I don't work in construction. I don't need a truck to haul shit on a regular basis. There's no rational reason I should have a big-ass 4x4 truck, but I desperately want one. Why?
My other automotive tastes are small cars (like my current dd, a Fiat 500) and big luxo-barges (especially the Lincoln Town Car). So why would I lust after a big, manuél-trannied, gas-guzzling pickup that my partner wouldn't ever be willing to ride in? We used the truck pictured (my mom's '90 F-150) to pick up our new dressers from IKEA, and he was miserable the whole ride home. Yet, I want to buy that truck from them more than anything.
Why can't I want things that make sense?

I'm considering a truck as a daily later on, you never know when it'll be handy.

That truck is tiny by today's standards! But having a truck around is great.

I had a 2009 Ranger as a daily driver for 5 years. It was a great truck, but I used its truck capabilities almost never. I traded it for a Fiat 500 and it's more than a blast to drive. Yet I troll Craigslist and cars.com all the time for big trucks. It just makes no sense.

Why? Because trucks are fun! And by truck standards, that one is a very reasonable size. You should buy it :)

It doesn't feel that tiny when it comes time to park it.
I love driving it, though. It has torque for miles. It sounds beastly, too.

I wish they would sell it to me. They don't need it, but they don't need to get rid of it either.

In a way, that's even better. You don't have to pay for a vehicle you don't need, but you can still use it. Then, whenever they do decide to sell it, you can scoop it up.

Because trucks are awesome. And 'Murica?

Because old trucks have more personality than any other car ever made.

This truck has 'Murica in spades, too. NRA stickers, pro-gun everything, etc. I'm shocked that it doesn't have a gun rack.

From 1989 onward my dad bought a new pickup on average every three years. He occasionally towed a trailer with it but very rarely hauled anything in it. In fact I remember hauling more parts of his '93 ford F150 in my 1990 Sundance than parts of anything he hauled in that truck. The heart wants what the heart wants. Thank god it does too because when what we drive becomes another appliance the world becomes just a little bit bleaker of a place.
Fun fact: 1993 F150 front bumpers fit in 1990 Plymouth Sundances.

Seems like an irrational desire to me. Do you have stuff that you need to haul on a regular basis?

Unnecessary trucks are unnecessary.

Not ever. But every time I've driven it, I have a huge grin on my face. It's so loud and has enough power to rip the asphalt apart.

For the same reason I want this:
as a secondary work truck...
and one of theses:
as a daily driver...

I'm with you on the Raptor. Don't think I can stomach the Panamera though.

Go sit in / drive one. It will change your mind.

I would do that. I would also help people move. Whatever I needed to do, I would do if it meant this could be my daily driver.

Because older trucks flat rule...
